Our Story
We met at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery, Alabama, which is home to the infamously average minor league baseball team, The Biscuits. We both came separately — Colton with his friends and I (Ashlyn) with my cheer team.
Since I had expressed to one of my teammates that I was ready for a real relationship, she started scanning the crowds for me. No one she directed me to caught my attention, so I started glancing around myself. That was when my eyes landed on Colton.
After numerous stolen glances and whispering to my teammate about how attractive I found him, she presented me with the ultimatum; either I go talk to him myself or she talks to him for me. I knew the latter would be more embarrassing, so after looking at him for a few more seconds I mustered up the courage and walked up to him and began talking to him.
After texting during the day, I asked him if he would like to hang out, and thus he planned our entire first date. Conversation flowed between us like the steady stream of a creek and we were continuously amazed at how much we had in common and how easily we understood each other.
Over the years our relationship has only continued to grow healthy and strong despite the challenges life may have thrown our way (such as long distance) and we wouldn't want to go through it with anyone else.

The Proposal
On our fifth anniversary, Colton took me to the observation tower on the Montgomery riverfront that also doubles as a lock bridge. We visited this bridge on our first date and added our own lock to it on February 14, 2022. He said he had another surprise for me, which was a new lock to add to the one we already had on there. After intertwining the locks and throwing the keys into the river, I turned to face Colton where he then got down on his knee and proposed to me. (Shoutout to Grandmommy for the idea!)
